Children’s Minitry Director

My parents took our family to church just occasionally when I was growing up. We prayed at meal times, but the there was no true commitment to the Lord in our family. I went to VBS several summers and I think it was the summer when I was in 5th grade that I made a decision for Christ. After a while my parents stopped going to that Baptist church so my neighbors offered to take me to the Community Church with them.

It was when I was in high school I had taken a Child Development Class & knew I wanted to go into Early Childhood Education.

All through my school years I did Girl Scouts. Besides my GS leader in my high school years being a great Christian witness & example to the girls & myself in my troop I learned great leadership skills. ( Received the Gold Award – the highest award in scouts). After I graduated from a high school in 1983 in Ohio I worked as a GS camp counselor. That November I moved to Santa Barbara, Ca to help take care of my nephew & get experience working in preschools as a aide while I was waiting on my one year residency to go to SBCC for Early Childhood Education. During that time I volunteered with at a close by GS troop.

** At the time my sister & brother-in-law weren’t Christians but they knew I wanted to go to church. One of my brother-in-law’s co-workers offered to give me a ride to Calvary Chapel SB. My walk with the Lord grew stronger while I was there, I was discipled by someone, went to a regular Bible study & the College & Careers Singles Bible Study group. And I was Baptized there. I learned the importance of serving at church so a few months after going there I volunteered in the nursery.

While at CCSB I also met my husband . One year after we were married we moved to Lompoc. I ended my preschool teacher job at Cliff Drive Ministries (Free Methodist Church) and would occasionally substitute for a while. I transferred to Hancock College and received a Certificate in Early Childhood Education. I worked at the Nazarene Preschool and home day care before I had my four children.
