Missionary – Tbilisi, Georgia
Jed, Renee, Anna, Elizabeth, Joshua, Rachel, and Isaiah Gourley
In 2013 the Gourleys moved to the small nation of Georgia, which is located in the Caucasus mountains east of Turkey. Their vision is to plant a church in Tbilisi, the capital city. An official church has been registered with the government, and outreaches have begun. Jed has been leading a small mid-week Bible study for the past several months. The Gourleys are also praying about beginning a Russian-speaking pastoral training program that would train leaders to reach into nearby areas that are virtually closed to Western missionaries. The Caucasus region is home to many unreached people groups.
Jed and Renee grew up in the same church, Calvary Chapel of Crawfordsville, Indiana. In 1992, Renee left for the mission field at the age of 16 with her family (the Markeys). Jed soon joined the team in Ukraine and began serving the young people who were coming to the Lord. Jed and Renee were married in Kiev, Ukraine in 1994. From 1995-1999, both completed university studies in southern California and returned to the mission field. In the summer of 2006 the Gourleys moved to Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan to plant a church in that mostly Muslim country. In 2013, the Lord once again directed them to pull up their tent pegs and move to a new country. Besides serving in Georgia, their present work involves ongoing ministry in both Ukraine and Kyrgyzstan.
